Enter the Beauty Industry with Confidence
At the Institution of Cosmetology & Barbering, we’re committed to helping students begin—or continue—their journey in the beauty industry. Whether you’re enrolling for the first time or transferring hours from a previous program, our admissions process is designed to be straightforward and supportive.
Admission Requirements

Be at least 16 years of age

Possess a high school diploma or GED

Complete an admissions application for your selected program

Provide valid government-issued photo identification
Additional documentation may be required prior to enrollment. All admissions decisions are made in compliance with Tennessee state laws and regulations.
Transfer Students & Previously Earned Hours
Have hours from another cosmetology or barbering program? We welcome transfer students and those returning to complete their education.
All previously earned hours are accepted, provided they were completed at a state-licensed school and verified through official documentation.
Requirements:

Official transcripts or records from the previous institution

Documentation showing completed clock hours

Any additional records required by the State of Tennessee
Once reviewed, our team will determine remaining hours needed and guide you through the next steps to continue your training and prepare for licensure.
Refresher & Completion Pathways
Students who have been out of school for a period of time or who need additional preparation before testing may benefit from our Refresher Course.
This option is ideal for those who:

Have completed some, but not all, required hours

Need additional hands-on practice

Want focused State Board exam preparation

Are returning to the industry after time away
